Roy Graff founded ChinaContact in 2005 as a response to the need in the West for real knowledge and expertise on the Chinese tourism sector. Having established a solid track record of business development in China with Gullivers Travel Associates, he has helped a range of travel and tourism organisations access China's booming outbound travel market.
He has a deep understanding of China's culture and business practices from academia, public and private sector work. From 2002 until early 2005, Roy worked in China as Gullivers Travel Associates (now part of Travelport) Director of e-commerce and senior business development manager. His final role before returning to Europe was Country Manager for Octopustravel.com He lived in China's two commercial power houses, Beijing and Shanghai and traveled extensively in China, forging good personal relationships with key private sector and government contacts.
Roy is the founder of the WTM-ChinaContact forum on China's tourism industry and a regular speaker on China's tourism sector development. He most recently spoke at the Asia Luxury Travel Market in Shanghai, the Travel Distribution Summit in Singapore and the Travel Distribution Conference in Beijing among other trade events. He regularly travels to China to assess and develop tourism investment projects and has a keen interest in promoting sustainable tourism in China. He is currently developing ventures in China within e-commerce and hotel group management.
