John Crummie

John Crummie's career in the leisure industry has embraced periods in retail travel and domestic holiday marketing with Rank Group, before joining DFDS Seaways in 1989. With DFDS Seaways he has filled a variety of Sales & Marketing and General Management roles, culminating in his appointment as UK Managing Director in 1996. DFDS Seaways is the largest sea carrier and tour operator from Britain to Scandinavia and Holland. Across its total network DFDS Seaways carries 1.6 million passengers and 190,000 cars.

John lives in Whitley Bay. Hobbies and interests include: travel, running and football. An active supporter of the Passenger Shipping Association, he served a period as Chairman of the Ferry Section before serving as Chairman of the Council of Management from 2004 to 2006. Currently, he is a member of Tourism Tyne & Wear Partnership Board.
