Jan Telensky, environmentalist and businessman, CEO of AquaCity Resort, Poprad. British based Czech businessman Jan Telensky's story is one of communism to capitalism, adversity to achievement. Aged just 21, following the Prague Spring, he arrived in England unable to speak English and with no money. Deprived of an education in his home country, he seized every opportunity to study. He soon became fluent in English and adept at business.

By the time he was 29, he was a millionaire. He built a varied portfolio of businesses, with information and education at the core, successfully turning around the fortunes of Scheidegger, now a leading IT distance learning company. When communism fell, he expended his business interests into Czech Republic and Slovakia and was finally able to visit his birth home and his family.

Poprad in northern Slovakia is the setting for AquaCity Resort, Jan Telensky's greatest achievement to date; the realisation of his vision to demonstrate that environmental technology can give a business edge and that affordable, green luxury can go hand in hand. Here he built the world renowned AquaCity resort, the first affordable, luxury spa and water park that is virtually self-powered using freely available geothermal water, wind and solar power.
